Táto spoločnosť so sídlom v New Yorku podniká vo filme, televízii, v nakladateľskej oblasti, internetových službách a telekomunikáciách. Zoznam jej dcérskych spoločností je vskutku pôsobivý. Spomeňme napríklad New Line Cinema (ktorá stojí za úspešnou trilógiou Pán Prsteňov), televízne stanice HBO, CNN a Cartoon Network, DC Comics, Warner Bros. Entertainment a tak ďalej. AOL takisto so sídlom v New Yorku je mediálna spoločnosť, ktorá sa tiež zaoberá poskytovaním globálnych internetových služieb. Firma, ktorú kedysi prezývali “Goliáš medzi poskytovateľmi internetových služieb” mala viac než 30 miliónov zákazníkov po celo svete. V roku 2001 sa spojila so spoločnosťou Time Warner. V súčasnosti AOL ešte stále čelí škandálu keďže osem bývalých vedúcich pracovníkov čelí obvineniam z toho, že nafúkli reklamné výnosy firmy o neuveriteľnú miliardu amerických dolárov v rokoch 2000 až 2002. V pondelok americká Komisia pre burzu a cenné papiere vyhlásila, že títo muži sa podieľali na transakciách, kedy spoločnosť dala inzerentom peniaze na to aby nakúpili reklamy, ktoré nechceli respektíve nepotrebovali. Takto navýšený príjem mal za následok zvýšenie ceny akcií, čo umožnilo v roku 2001 umožnilo spoločnosti odkúpiť Time Warner za 184 miliárd a vytvoriť tak svetovú mediálnu superveľmoc. “Keď si to zhrnieme, šlo vlastne o snahu vytvoriť zdanie úspechu v podnikaní, ktorý tam nebol,” povedal ešte v roku 2005 štátny zástupca Paul McNulty novinárom. Štyria z obvinených mužov David Colburn, Eric Keller, Jay Rappaport a James MacGuidwin, súhlasili ukončiť súdny proces zaplatením pokuty vo výške 8 miliónov dolárov. Koncom roka 2004 a začiatkom roka 2005 spoločnosť Time warner pristala na zaplatenie 300 miliónov dolárov s cieľom uzavrieť civilný súdny proces s Komisiou pre burzu a cenné papiere a takisto 210 miliónov dolárov v prípade obvinení zo strany amerického Ministrestva spravodlivosti.

Vehicles, furniture, collectibles, computers. Sometimes rather unusual objects are sold. Brussels sprouts left over from Christmas dinner, a single cornflake, a partially eaten, 10-year-old grilled cheese sandwich claimed to bear an image of the Virgin Mary, water that was said to have been left in a cup Elvis Presley once drank from. From time to time, people go even further and try to sell sundry peculiarities. Like a man from UK, who put his wife for sale, group of four men, who auctioned themselves to spend a weekend promising good fun and laugh or a guy, who tried to sell his own kidney.A problem is, that eBay only is a host for all these sellers and buyers and really can not control all offered items. Je to pravdepodobne najpopulárnejšia on-line aukcia a nákupná webová stránka, kedže okrem pôvodnej americkej domény vytvorila aj lokálne webové stránky v približne tridsiatich krajinách po celom svete, Austrália, Argentína, India, Poľsko, Spojené Arabské Emiráty a Vietnam predstvujú len výber z mnohých.eBay predáva rozličné veci, vlastne takmer všetko, čo si len dokážete predstaviť. Vozidlá, nábytok, zberateľské kúsky, počítače. Niekedy sa predajú dosť neobvyklé objekty. Ružičkový kel, ktorý zvýšil od vianočnej večere, jediný kukuričný lupienok, čiastočne zjedený, 10 rokov starý zapekaný syrový sendvič, o ktorom majiteľ tvrdil, že nesie podobizeň Panny Márie, voda, ktorá vraj ostala v pohári, z ktorého raz pil Elvis Presley. Občas ľudia zájdu ešte ďalej a snažia sa predať rozličné zvláštnosti. Ako muž zo Spojeného Kráľovstva, ktorý dal do aukcie svoju ženu, skupinka štyroch mužov, ktorí chceli vydražiť strávenie víkendu s nimi samými sľubujúc dobrú zábavu a smiech alebo chlapík, ktorý sa pokúšal predať svoju vlastnú obličku. Problémom je, že eBay je len hostiteľskou stránkou pre všetkých týchto predávajúcich a kupujúcich a skutočne nemôže kontrolovať všetky ponúkané kúsky. To je to, čo zvyčajne spúsobuje ťažkosti a robí eBay dosť kontroverznou spoločnosťou. Napríklad v máji 2000 predal istý Kenneth Walton olejomaľbu za 135 805 dolárov, vďaka predstieraniu slabej znalosti o pôvode obrazu a špekuláciách, že môže ísť o dielo californského modernistu Richarda Diebenkorna. I always thought money makes people go crazy and apparently I wasn’t wrong. Have your herd about. co-founder Henry T. Nicholas III? Everyone knows his a billionaire who founded the chip maker Broadcom Corp. together with Henry Samueli, but few knew anything about his private life beyond the position of President and Chief Executive officer of the company from 1991 until 2003. On Thursday U.S. Attorney Thomas P. O'Brien brought into the public attention the sort of business he was doing. There were unsealed indictments accusing him among others of drug possession, purchase, abuse, conspiracy and fraud related to the backdated stock options during his presidency of computer chip company. According to the spokesman for US attorney, Nicholas turned himself to the FBI, but the defendant’s attorney Brendan Sullivan Jr refused to comment. The indictment is as thick as 18 pages and the allegations were possession and distribution of cocaine, methamphetamine and ecstasy, using four properties in Orange County and Las Vegas and a warehouse in Laguna Niguel as headquarters for the operations. For this charges, including that of hiring of prostitutes and escorts, he could get a maximum of 20 years. However, there are other charges more serious that could bring him 340 years of imprisonment. It is about the stock backdating scheme that made in January 2007 for the company to write down $2.2 billion. By mistaken the cost, the company’s income was inflated. This issue is somehow ambiguous as backdating stock options is legal. Both Nicholas and Broadcom's former chief financial officer, William J.
